Richard Hansen // David AJ

I know -- you were thinking that with the Reboot, Enter the Music was gonna Shutdown. Well, I just can't! As long as there are still 10 righteous people who love Family music, I will not distroy this blog!! Onto a happy note:

In the last few years we have seen the rise of a Family singer who kicks Josh Gossband (hee hee) in the butt (to put it nicely). That guy is none other than Richard Hansen. Every wonder what the angel Gabriel sounded like? Yeah, that's how! Alone with him came someone named David AJ -a singer who I know next to nothing about, but who also has a dynamic voice that is strikingly similar to Mr. Hansen's. Oddly enough, the vocals are so similar that WS music seems to have mixed them up on thier credits -repeatedly! Fortunately, Richard gavr me a hand with this post so I got it all figured out. Thanks man! So here it is:

Richard here. DAJ and I recorded most of our songs in the same place over the same time period, in Lebanon with Mike P. Its true we sing similarly enough, have similar tastes in how our vocals should sound, though I personally hear quite a few benchmark distinctions. I think what makes the real confusion is that my voice sounds like a different person from song to song. I like approaching each one differently, with mixed results.. Thank you for your kind words, but I've just been myself, no training or coaching, it just comes as is and can't really be attributed to me aside from being the obsessive and overly emotional instrument.

Here's your list in a loose chronological order, although between each songs' recording/producing/releasing there are large overlapping gaps of time. I include the key promise songs since as much work went into them as any other production, more in fact; 'There is No Limit' boasts a complete orchestra, 5 part harmonies with 4 singers and 4-8 takes each per part, meaning at the climax there are over 100 vocal samples blending together! 'Intimate Love' though, will forever remain my absolute favorite.

SHINE ON -David AJ
WARRIORS CRY -David AJ
REACHING OUT TO YOU -David AJ

Good job dude. I don't intend for you to run out of stuff to post either. Once I'm stable. I'm moving in less than a week.

Audio Guru, you mean you still gonna keep doing music? I've been waiting for the final release of the D-Generation trilogy thing ever since the second one came out...

Wow, Glad to see this blog is still running. GBY and I hope you can keep it going forever.

"Family" music will never die as long as there are Christians who also love music!

For all the Technical Awesomeness that secular music carries, Nothing beats the LJ songs when you need them!

Yeah....I was wondering why in 'Unfathomable' Richard sounded so like David...
There are many differences in their voices and styles of music if you listen enough, mainly their different styles of vibrato.
All that said I am a huge fan of Richard Hansen's singing (totally angel Gabriel-like...and yes, he's way better that Josh Groban even tho I don't share ur sentiments about Josh, Neo), I think he's THE BEST TFI singer!!!! Keep singing, baby!

proof that WS was understaffed... they mixed up our songs time and again.
I kept wondering when they would get it right
Was gr8 working with you Rick - TC
And good job Paul

By the way, Neo...some TFI singers you should add on this blog are Christy Gibson and Charlotte DeGaalon...both really good and I want to find more of their music.

Paul said...

Wow, I've been off here for awhile. Thanks for all the comments.

@Chey: You're right I should get around to doing Christy's stuff. However, I have NO idea who Charlotte DeGaalon is and have never heard anything by her. I would be VERY happy to get some of her music if you have any though.

Chey said...

Neo, I dont know if Charlotte's music is posted anywhere on the web, besides her official TCD recording of He Made You Beautiful a couple years ago. I do have some of her other recordings that I can send to u if u give me ur email :).
